Reading: "Deadlocked" by Charlaine Harris

Listening to: Mad deep into Sallie Ford and the Sound Outside

Watching: "Girls" - I've read some things here and there about the show...started watching it on a whim this past weekend. Damn, "Girls" is about the most realistic show I've seen for a long, long time...maybe ever.

Thinking about: Getting out of town...leaving for Maryland on Thursday...stoked.

Learning: I've learned to not ever ever ever vend in Asheville. Shows here are never financially rewarding. Never. Wasted money, wasted time, wasted energy=exhaustion and sadness.

Doing: Taking a step back from everything and relaxing.

Pet Peeves: Drunken idiots.

Happy Thoughts: Road trip!

Looking forward toRoad trip I need out of this town for a bit.

April Artist Date

April was a month of moving/packing/unpacking/settling.

It's really all I could focus on.

The month escaped me and all of a sudden I realized I hadn't taken myself out on my monthly artist date.

As serendipity would have it, a fellow flying sister was painting live, just an hour from where I live.

How freakin' cool?

It was very, very cool.

I hopped in the car and drove to The Coffee Bar in Spartanburg, SC to watch Sarah Rowan Dahl live paint.

Flying sisters meet...Sarah Rowan Dahl and I.
I love her tie!
She has such style.

Absolutely in love with her red boots.

At some point Sarah needed a bathroom break and
handed the paintbrush to me!

It was an honor and truly inspiring painting with a live band...
I loved it.

Here we are with the finished painting.
It was a fabulous night of excellent coffee,
good music, amazing painting,
and there was a bookstore next door.

Perfect.

Me at Max Patch

Reading: "Deadlocked" by Charlaine Harris

Listening to: Just heard a band called Sallie Ford and the Sound Outside. I need more. I am totally in love with the few songs I've heard. Passionate and soulful. I love it.

Watching: Finished up a bunch of shows! Yay for summer break. My favorite season finale was "Once Upon a Time". So, so, so damn good. So good.

Thinking about: Everything I have to do to get ready for my vending event on Saturday.

Learning: After doing craft shows/vending events off and on since 2002, it only gets slightly easier each time. Shows are tons of work.

Doing: Getting ready for the Americana Burlesque and Sideshow Festival. This entails new product and planning my outfit. Of course, I have new wings.

Pet Peeves: Nothing comes to mind.

Happy Thoughts: Life is good.

Best Quote: "There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening, that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and will be lost." ~Martha Graham

Looking forward to: 3 day weekend. I plan on giving the ABSfest everything I got and then totally relaxing on Sunday and Monday. Yay for Memorial Day.

10 Things I Need for Creativity~May Blog Circle

10 Things I Need for Creativity

1. I need space. I need space to create. I need space to spread my wings. I need space for paint, jewelry supplies, and glue all over the place. After spending 2 years in a 400 square foot apartment with my boyfriend, I finally have my own craft room. It's so incredible and is so very needed for my creative muse to thrive.
my craft room
2. I need to be alone. At least in the beginning of my creating. Once I see in my head what I'm making, I can be around others creating. However, I usually do my best alone.

3. I need incense and candles to set my creative ambiance. When I light incense and candles it automatically takes me to a place of calm. I feel centered and ready to do something inspiring.

a source of inspiration-Sarah

4. I need the right music. It can vary. Normally I dig chick voices...if I really want to dig deep I throw on my Sarah McLachlan DVD. Works every single time.

5. I need my home to be in order. I cannot create in chaos. Besides, it's all very feng shui.

6. I need a big chunk of time. I don't want to be interrupted. This puts me at somewhat of a disadvantage because it means I really only have the weekend to create. Working the mundane 40 hour Monday-Friday work week incorporating the gym...well...I normally only have about an hour every evening for dinner and to get ready for the next day. No time to create. I live for 3 day weekends. I really need a creation vacation

Why pay regular price?
7. I need craft supplies-which means I need coupons! Let's face it, some of these supplies are not cheap. So, I'm all about the weekly coupons for Michael's, Joann's, and A.C. Moore. Gel medium costs $15.99...nah...I'll get that 40% or 50% off with a Michael's coupon. SCORE.

8. I need books. Books inspire me. Books are my friends. Just being surrounded by books, I am inspired.

9. I need to write. Writing is very cathartic for me. Every single morning I get up and write my morning pages which are 3 pages of stream of consciousness writing. It is incredibly therapeutic. I highly suggest you try it.

10.  I need an awesome boyfriend that understands creativity is part of who I am. Thank you Chris for allowing me to be me.
How completely fantastic.

Reading: "Deadlocked" by  Charlaine Harris - getting my Sookie fix

Listening to: Puscifer, How To Destroy Angels, whatever grabs me

Watching: The usual shows, happy it's finale week for "Once Upon A Time", "Supernatural", "The Vampire Diaries", and "How I Met Your Mother".

Thinking about: Goodness. True happiness.

Learning: to breathe again

Doing: I've been nesting with my craft room...finally got to craft in the craft room! I just absolutely love having my own space. (It's been way too long.)

Pet Peeves: Funny. Most of my "pet peeves" I don't seem to have anymore since we moved. I think my biggest pet peeve was the neighbor and every single thing he did. So glad to be gone from there. You know it sucks that a bad neighbor can destroy your living environment.

Happy Thoughts: Chris. Coffee and bagels. Hugs. A happy home. My garden.

(I suggest you check out her article "Female Purity is Bullshit".

Looking forward to: So many things! I will be vending at ABSfest and am most excited about wearing fishnets. Plus it's wedding season...got a couple of those to go to which will result in fun weekend getaways and time off from work. Yay.

Life is good.

May 1~Beltane

May 1, 2013

Today marks my 4 year anniversary in Asheville.
Plus it's Beltane.

I had chose Beltane as my big move to Asheville day
for numerous reasons.

One reason...it's a fantastic prosperity celebration.

The magical energies of Beltane are all about fertility, creativity, passion, love, romance, sensuality, and renewal of life force.

I came to Asheville to learn and let my wings grow.

I'm finally feeling more stable here.
I think it takes awhile...putting down new roots.

 I have no regrets.

My heart is still here in the mountains with the good beer, amazing food, herbs galore, picture perfect scenery,
and lots and lots of love.

And now for a pagan Beltane chant/poem
from Rudyard Kipling

Oh do not tell the priests of our rites,

For they would call it a sin.

We shall be in the woods all night

A conjurin' summer in!

We bring you good news by word of mouth

For women, cattle, and corn,

The sun is coming up from the South.

By oak, and ash, and thorn

Oh do not tell the priests of our art,

For they would call it a sin,

We shall be in the woods all night

A conjurin' summer in!
